INTRODUCING THE MOBBS.

Bursting with retro energy, Northampton trio The Mobbs sum up everything we love about proper British bands. Their sound, which they describe as 'Blistering!' is a medley of feel good organised chaos, served with a massive helping of RAAAR!

It all started 3 years ago with intention to form a Blues group, the lingerings of which can still be heard in 'Better the Devil You Know.' But this all went to pot when guitarist and vocalist Joe B. Humbled and bassist Jimi the Dutch met drummer Cheadle, becoming the noisy, ironic-dance inducing explosion that we see today.

Since then they've churned out some smashers such as 'Old Square Eyes' and (my personal fave) 'Jolly Good!' Despite quoting The Sonics, The Who and The Kinks as some of their influences, their lyrics and references bring their tunes slamming into 2011. They're definitely ones to watch, so I caught up with them to see what they had to say for themselves.

Q: If you could go back in time to play a gig, what time period would you visit?
A: We would probably best fit into the Punk era... say 1977. Honestly though we are quite happy with 2011, it's about time guitar music got faster and more enjoyable in this century!

Q: What are your plans for the next 6 months?
A: Our plans include playing a few exciting gigs in mainland Europe. We have dates booked for Berlin in February and Paris and Brussels in April. We hope to promote our newly released record 'It's The Mobbs' wherever possible and then hopefully find ourselves back in the studio by the summer.

Q: What's been your best gig to date?
A: Poitiers, France in October 2011 in front of 200 appreciative French fans. It gave us the kick of confidence we were long overdue!

Q: Do you have any pre or post performance rituals?
A: No just set up, plug in, bash it out and come off dripping in sweat.

Q: Who's iPod would you most love your songs to be on?
A: Steve Lamaq or Mark Riley's of BBC 6music.
